"Pharaoh"

This is another pen and ink piece that I did. This was also done on an 11"by 8.5" piece of paper, and this one is called "Pharaoh."I originally started out with just the pyramids in this piece, and then it turned into this sort of Egyptian concept. I feel that I need to add something else because it seems a little empty in some spots, especially the sand. But overall, I like this piece. It just needs a little improvement.

"Guitar"

This is a black and white pen and ink piece called "Guitar." It is on an 11" by 8.5" piece of paper.
One thing that I'm incredibly passionate about is music, and one thing that I especially appreciate is the beauty of an acoustic guitar. I really wanted to play around with different perspectives and art styles in this work, and I think I achieved what I wanted to accomplish.

"Mantis"

This piece is called "Mantis." It's a pen and ink drawing with small instances of graphite use, and watercolor. This is another old drawing that I still like. I really appreciate the contrast of green to the black and white. I like the elements of transformation and juxtaposition used in this piece, and I thought that the mantis is well drawn while not realistic.

"Looking Back on Fonder Times"

This collage is called "Looking Back on Fonder Times." This is an old piece that I still really like. I still appreciate the contrast of color and the black and white. I was kind of feeling nostalgic at the time of making this, hence the title.

"wHOLE"

This piece is called "wHOLE." It's an acrylic painting done on a 16" by 20" canvas. I've grown to appreciate abstract art, and I wanted to actually create another abstract art piece, so I made this. I also tried to experiment with negative space with this piece. I really like how this painting turned out. This is my favorite piece that I did over the summer.

"Reach"

This sketch is called "Reach." This is a pen and ink drawing that I did on 9"x 12" paper. I really just got the idea from staring at my hand. I called the piece "Reach" just because it looked like all of the hands on the tree are reaching up towards the sky. This was my second favorite piece that I created over the summer.

"Ancient"

This sketch is called "Ancient." It's just graphite on 14" x 10" paper. I had an art project in school last year that required us to manipulate the flat irons somehow. I wasn't really happy with my end result for that project, so I decided to try again. I honestly think I did a solid job on this piece. I didn't want it to be entirely realistic, and I liked the way I stylized it.

"Pain/Agony"

This piece is called "Pain/Agony." It's pen and ink with water color on 7" x 6" paper. I had my wisdom teeth removed over the summer, and it was an awful experience, so that's where I got my main inspiration with this piece. I usually don't like watercolors, but I'd thought I'd try something new. I overall like how this piece turned out, but I feel like I could have been tidier with the watercolor paints.

"Severed"

This piece is called "Severed." It was made on 9" x 9" paper with acrylic paints and pen and ink. I really didn't know where I was going with this piece. I just wanted to make something bright and somewhat abstract, so I kind of sketched an odd sort of face and continued forward. I think there's a lot of interesting color use in this piece which I like. Overall, this is one of my better pieces that I made over the summer.

"Aging"

This painting is called "Aging." It was made on a 14" x 12" canvas using acrylic paints. Autumn is my favorite season, so I tried to pay tribute to it with this piece. I do like some aspects of this piece, especially the clouds, but I feel that this is the weakest out of the eight. If I maybe took more time and didn't rush this piece could have been a lot better.

"Rad"

This one is called "Rad." It's 12" x 14" and I used acrylic paints as well as graphite to make it. This is just a self portrait of me. The last I did was a while ago, so I thought it was time I did a new one. I honestly think that I could have spent some more time on my actual face and body, and maybe add some detail, but overall I think it looks ok. I really like how the background turned out.

"Worm"

This is a piece titled "Worm." It's 9" x 12", and the mediums that I used were pen and ink, and graphite. This was one of the first pieces I made over the summer. I wanted to create something almost completely imaginary. I was reading Moby Dick at the time, so I had this idea to make it some sort of sea creature. This isn't one of my favorite pieces, but it turned out ok.
